The McNamara Family have donated funds to The University of Western Australia to establish the Keiran McNamara World Heritage PhD Top Up Scholarship in honour of Keiran McNamara, former Director General of the Department of Environment and Conservation. The scholarship aims to further knowledge and expertise relevant to the conservation and management of the natural values of World Heritage areas in Western Australia by attracting the next generation of outstanding intellects to this state.
Keiran McNamara World Heritage PhD Top Up Scholarships are offered across all five Western Australian universities to outstanding students who wish to undertake high quality PhD research related to identifying, managing and conservation of World Heritage areas in Western Australia.
The scholarship is offered as a supplementary 'top-up' scholarship comprising a $10,000 per annum stipend (living allowance) and a $15,000 per annum operating allowance for research expenses, including research related travel.
All applicants for the Keiran McNamara World Heritage PhD Top Up Scholarships must contact potential supervisors before submitting their application.
Available in the 2022 Round for Domestic applicants and UWA international graduates only
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree with First Class Honours or equivalent, and must not have already enrolled in a PhD. These awards are for commencing students only Please see the conditions for further information.
