Title
Abbie Basson Sarcoma Research Scholarship
Description

The Abbie Basson Sarcoma Research Scholarship is offered annually in memory of Abbie Basson. Before her life was tragically cut short by Ewing's Sarcoma at the young age of 20, Abbie planned to fund research into the uncommon and aggressive tumour group, sarcoma.

The PhD top up scholarship is to be awarded to an outstanding candidate who has attracted a Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend, University Postgraduate Award or equivalent to encourage and support research into the cellular and molecular biology of sarcoma (malignant bone and soft tissue tumour) with a view to developing more effective treatments.

The scholarship provides a top-up living allowance of $10,000 per annum and a research operating allowance of $10,000 per annum for laboratory expenses and consumables.

The scholarship is a supplementary scholarship to be held in conjunction with a Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend, a University Postgraduate Award (UPA) or equivalent postgraduate research scholarship recognised by the University.
