BHP Billiton Honours Scholarship in the UWA Business School
Description

The closing date for this scholarship has been extended to 30th March, 2012

BHP Billiton donates a sum of money annually to provide up to four scholarships to encourage students who have demonstrated academic excellence and an interest in economic, business or management issues relevant to the resources sector to undertake the honours course leading to a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree or Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree in the UWA Business School.

The scholarship is paid in two instalments, in the following manner:

  1. Tuition fees are paid on or before the census date in each semester directly to the University on the recipients behalf.
  2. The balance remaining after provision for tuition fees, is paid in two equal instalments directly to the recipient on or before the census date in each semester.
  3. The second payment of both (1) and (2) is conditional upon the recipient making satisfactory progress in accordance with the rules of the course in relation to which the scholarship is awarded.

Eligibility
  • be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
  • have demonstrated academic excellence in their undergraduate studies; and
  • have been accepted into an honours course leading to the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree or Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree in the UWA Business School.

See ConditionsWritten applications addressing the selection criteria must be accompanied by: (1) a covering letter outlining the applicant's reasons for applying for the scholarship (2) an outline of the proposed honours dissertation topic a curriculum vitae that includes details of:   (i) academic achievements   (ii) the following as appropriate:           sporting activities and achievements           community service           participation in community, voluntary or other work           leadership positions held at school, university or in the community

For applicants who have undertaken study at a tertiary institution other than the University of Western Australia, a copy of the applicants academic record from that institution must be included.
