The China Scholarship Council (CSC) and The University of Western Australia (UWA) are offering a limited number of postgraduate research scholarships each year to students from the People's Republic of China who intend to undertake a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at UWA. Applicants who are citizens and normally residing in China at the time of application, and enrolled or registered in a Chinese University, may apply for a UWA China Scholarship. Please note that UWA China Scholarships are awarded in a competitive ranking and selection process.
UWA will provide a scholarship to cover tuition fees for selected students and the CSC will provide a living allowance as prescribed from time to time by the Chinese Government, a return airfare to Australia by the most economical route, and visa application fees. 27 January 2017: Deadline for prospective candidates to apply directly to UWA International Admissions for admission (for commencement in second half of 2017). Applicants will need to complete the Postgraduate International Student Application Form and attach a brief research outline (one to two pages) and details of any publications in learned journals or copies of any published papers. Please indicate that you are applying for a China Scholarship.
17 March 2017: Deadline for prospective candidates to submit their CSC application for funding form and CSC employer reference form to the CSC. Forms are available online at http://apply.csc.edu.cn. In some cases there may be a deadline for applications for the Chinese university that is nominating the candidate for the CSC scholarship. Prospective candidates should check with their university if there is an application deadline prior to the CSC application closing date.
UWA will provide the CSC with a list of suitable candidates to be considered for the scholarship program and copies of UWA offer letters.
May 2017: The CSC will evaluate applications according to CSC requirements and priorities, and provide UWA with a shortlist of potential scholarship recipients.
The CSC will announce the final list of scholarship recipients and send offer letters to successful applicants.
July 2017: Successful applicants will be expected to enrol and start their PhD study at UWA from July 2017 onwards.
