John Flynn Placement Program
The John Flynn Scholarship is administered by the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM). The program enables first and second year Undergraduate Medical Students, and Graduate Entry Students to undertake a placement in a rural or remote community for a minimum of 2 weeks each year, generally over a 4 year period. Medical students work closely with a GP mentor and the host community to develop a better understanding of the challenges and rewards associated with rural practice and non-metropolitan health care services. Students are covered for their travel, accommodation and receive a sum of money for expenses. 300 scholarships will be offered nationally in 2009. 16 placements will be from UWA.
