BHP Billiton Iron Ore Ltd is offering up to 5 scholarships per annum to provide financial assistance to Indigenous students enrolled or enrolling in an undergraduate level in one of the specified fields of study. Preference will be given to students from the Pilbara and Kimberley regions and other remote/ regional areas. Value and durationEach scholarship is valued at approximately $17,000 per annum for the duration of the course and includes: - Residential Accommodation fees at one of the Residential Colleges
- $4,000 living allowance
- $1,000 ancillary allowance
Fields of studyPreference will be given to applicants enrolled or enrolling in one of the following fields of study, however students enrolled in other courses are also encouraged to apply: Engineering: Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Geotechnical, Mechanical, Minerals Process and Mining and Surveying Science: Chemistry, Environmental Science/Management, Geology, Occupational Health & Safety and Metallurgy Business: Accounting, Business/Commerce, Human Resource Management, Public Relations and Law Eligibility CriteriaApplicants must be: - Indigenous and a citizen or permanent resident of Australia; and
- be experiencing financial hardship; and
- be enrolled, or eligible to enrol, in an undergraduate degree course at the University.
Preference will be given to students from the Pilbara and Kimberley regions and other remote/ regional areas. Selection Criteria- Based upon:
academic achievement and potential; and - demonstration of other achievements, abilities, leadership or community service
Student OpportunityScholarship holders are given the opportunity to participate in the BHP Billiton Mentor Program and vacation work with BHP Billiton Iron Ore Pty Ltd.
