The purpose of the scholarship is to assist and encourage eligible Outer Metropolitan Programme (OMP) students who can demonstrate financial hardship and high academic achievement to undertake the MBBS degree course. Value$5,000 per annum DurationFor the duration of the course AvailabilityThe first scholarship is available in 2010, the second in 2013 and the third in 2015. EligibilityTo be eligible to apply for a scholarship an applicant must: (a) have been accepted in the quota for the OMP; (b) be eligible to enrol in the MBBS degree course; (c) be able to demonstrate financial hardship; and (d) be able to demonstrate high academic achievement as evidenced by their TEA; Financial hardship may be demonstrated by the applicant – (a) being in receipt of a means tested Commonwealth income support payment (such as Austudy, Abstudy, Youth Allowance etc; or (b) submitting a statement of financial hardship. To be eligible to take up a scholarship a recipient must be enrolled in the MBBS degree course at the University. Selection CriteriaThe scholarship is awarded to the applicant who, in the opinion of the selection committee, best demonstrates through their application and supporting documentation – (a) financial hardship; and (b) high academic achievement as evidenced by their TEA.
