The Honourable Serge Ferrier Family Law Bursary

The purpose of the bursary is to assist the grantee(s) to pursue full-time study for the degree of Bachelor of Laws at the University of Western Australia. The selection committee may award a bursary or bursaries not exceeding $4000 per annum in aggregate. Each bursary is tenable for one year.

Selection Criteria

The Bursary is open to students enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Laws course or in a combined course which includes a course for the degree of Bachelor of Laws, and who are enrolled in Introduction to Family Law (LAWS3376).

The bursary will be awarded to the applicant(s) who, in the opinion of the selection committee,

  • has/have demonstrated the need for financial assistance to continue their studies;
  • is/are most deserving of such assistance; and
  • has/have demonstrated a particular interest in Family Law.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online and should address eligibility and all of the selection criteria. They must also include:

  • a statutory declaration made by the applicant setting out his or her financial circumstances, and
  • references from three referees who collectively are able to address, from their personal knowledge of the applicant, all of the selection criteria.

Applications should be submitted no later than the closing date advertised.

Short-listed applicants will be interviewed.
