Indigenous Access Scholarship
The Indigenous Access Scholarship is aimed at Indigenous students who need to relocate from regional and remote areas to commence an undergraduate degree or eligible enabling course. It is a once in a life time payment targeted at commencing Indigenous students.
The scholarship is valued at $4,116 in 2009 and is a once in a life time payment.
The scholarship will not be regarded as income by Centrelink in means-tested benefits.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for an Indigenous Access Scholarship a student must be:
- an Australian citizen;
- an Indigenous person;
- commencing as a Commonwealth supported student who:
- has accepted the offer of a place in; or
- is enrolled in; or
- is undertaking a course (for the purposes of cross-institutional studies) in an eligible enabling course or an undergraduate course of study;
- in receipt of a means tested Commonwealth income support payment such as ABSTUDY or provide Statutory Declarations demonstrating financial hardship; and
- enrolled or intend to enrol as a full time student unless there are exceptional circumstances which prevent you from studying full time.
You must not have already completed the requirements of a course of study with any institution equivalent to or higher than an Australian bachelor’s award.
In exceptional circumstances, if a continuing student is required as part of their course to undertake study in a location distant from their previous place of study, consideration may be given to awarding an Indigenous Access Scholarship. |
