Hedi Szasz Scholarship

The Hedi Szasz Scholarship Fund provides up to two scholarships per annum to encourage and assist full-time students to complete a single degree course leading to the Bachelor of Arts pass degree from The University of Western Australia (the University).

Value

$1103.50 (in 2009, depends on funds).

The scholarship is paid in two instalments. One instalment is normally paid on or following the census date in each of the relevant semesters.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship an applicant must—

(a) be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;

(b) have satisfactorily completed units to the value of at least 48 points of the single degree course leading to a Bachelor of Arts pass degree.

(2) To be eligible to take up a scholarship an applicant must be enrolled full-time in the single degree course leading to a Bachelor of Arts pass degree.

Selection Criteria

The scholarship is awarded by the selection committee to the applicant who best demonstrates financial hardship in their completed application and supporting documentation.

For scholarships awarded on the basis of financial hardship, students must be able to demonstrate financial hardship—

(a) through being in receipt of a means tested Commonwealth income support payment (such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, Abstudy, disability support pension, Veteran Entitlements payment or another income-tested benefit or pension) in the year in which the scholarship is awarded; or

(b) on the basis of a Statutory Declaration which demonstrates that the student is experiencing financial hardship.
