The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) is pleased to offer students a unique opportunity to spend 12 months earning a salary and acquiring the knowledge that could begin their career in either government or the private sector. The ABCB is a joint initiative of all three levels of Government in Australia and provides a vital link between the building industry and Government regulatory policy, through producing and maintaining the Building Code of Australia (BCA). Our mission is to oversee issues relating to health, safety, amenity and sustainability in building. EligibilityThe Cadetship is open to both undergraduates and graduates in the fields of - Architecture, Building Certification / Surveying, Building, Construction Management and Built Environment, and applications for this highly competitive 12 month program are now open. ProjectsTechnical projects that Cadets may work on include: * Developing and maintaining the BCA * Learning how codes, standards and public policy fit together * Undertaking research to identify the benefits and costs of national approaches to Government policy. ValueThere are two Cadet positions on offer, commencing in January 2009. Cadets can expect to earn a salary of $50,000 + superannuation and will receive relocation assistance if moving from interstate to Canberra.
