EligibilityThe Women’s Service Guild of Western Australia was established as a voluntary organisation for the purpose of promoting the interests of women in WA. The Guild, after almost one hundred years of service, is no longer in operation but has endowed a top-up scholarship to support research that will specifically benefit women and children. Applications are invited from doctoral candidates whose area of postgraduate research training supports the interest of women and children. Research candidates from any field of study, with a research project of benefit to women and children in WA, are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be applying for admission to full-time candidature for the degree of PhD and possess a First Class Honours degree or equivalent. Applicants currently completing Honours will also be eligible to apply. Only applicants who are also successful in gaining an Australian Postgraduate Award in 2010 will be eligible. Please note that current PhD students are not eligible to apply. Value$8,000 (non-taxable) per annum. DurationThe award is for a maximum of three years. An extension of up to 6 months may be granted. ApplicationAn application form is available from the Graduate Research and Scholarships Office, or you may download the application form here (please note: UWA closing date is Friday 30 October, 2009, not 31 October as stated on the form). It should be submitted along with your application for an Australian Postgraduate Award/University Postgraduate (APA/UPA). While APA/UPA applications are to be completed on-line, you must print-out a copy of your APA/UPA application and deliver it to the Scholarships Office (details below) along with the completed Women's Service Guild Scholarship application form.
