The Robert and Maude Gledden Postgraduate Scholarships are prestigious awards offered to encourage and further postgraduate research at The University of Western Australia in applied science, more particularly relating to surveying, engineering, mining or cognate subjects. The scholarships are typically awarded to PhD students enrolled in the Faculties of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics; Natural and Agricultural Sciences; and Life and Physical Sciences. However, relevant applications will be considered from candidates in other Faculties. Applicants must be Australian Citizens or permanent residents of Australia. The Gledden Scholarships provide a stipend equivalent to the Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) stipend ($26,669 per annum in 2009, indexed annually), plus a travel allowance of up to $5000. Other benefits include Relocation and Thesis Allowances, with a total scholarship package of up to $100,000 over three and a half years.
