Faculty Medical & Dental Research Awards

Candidates that apply for the APA/UPA and NHMRC funding but are unsuccessful may be eligible for the fellowships and scholarships made available through the following bequests:

• Athelstan and Amy Saw Medical Research Fellowships
• Duff-Freeman Memorial Awards
• Eric Cyril Lawrence Medical Research Fellowship
• F A Hadley Travelling Scholarships
• James and Sith Annie Chesters Scholarships
• P F Sobotka Scholarships
• Richard Walter Gibbon Medical Research Fellowship
• W A and M G Saw Medical Research Fellowships
• Wyn Spence Fellowships in Medical Research

These awards are offered as full or supplementary scholarships and are governed by General Regulations. The value of full medical and dental scholarships is equivalent in all respects to that of a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Medical and Dental Postgraduate Research Scholarship.

Candidates for medical and dental scholarships or fellowships must be graduates in medicine or dentistry of this or another recognised tertiary institution, who are registered to practise within Australia.

Renewal of an award into the second and third year will be subject to evidence that the awardee has applied for external funding.
