Dr Harushisa Handa International Leadership Governor Sanderson Scholarship

Dr Haruhisa Handa has donated funds to endow the Dr Haruhisa Handa International Leadership Scholarship Programme which will provide scholarships to assist and encourage university graduates with leadership potential to pursue relevant postgraduate study.

Incorporating income from the Governor John Sanderson Fund, the inaugural scholarship established within the Dr Haruhisa Handa International Leadership Scholarship Programme was the Governor Sanderson Scholarship in Population Health.

The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage and facilitate the development of young leaders in Population Health and enable potential young leaders to experience and benefit from the cross-cultural opportunities afforded by internationally focussed studies.

Scholarship Value

The value of the scholarship is $22,000 over the two years of the degree and is available in 2008 to undertake a Master of Public Health coursework degree with a field component undertaken in East Asia.

This amount includes the cost of travel to East Asia for a two to six-week period for research associated with the Master of Public Health dissertation.

Eligibility

The scholarship is available in 2008 to any university graduate from a variety of professional backgrounds undertaking a full-time Master of Public Health coursework degree in the School of Population Health within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
