Centre for Mining, Energy and Natural Resources Law Scholarship

The Centre for Mining, Energy and Natural Resources Law was established within the University of Western Australia’s Law School in 1990. The Centre aims to stimulate education and research on legal issues arising in relation to mining, energy and natural resources sectors of the Western Australian economy, with particular emphasis on collaborative projects, conferences, seminars and workshops conducted in cooperation with private sector professional and industrial organisations and public sector agencies.

Purpose

The purpose of this scholarship is to further interest in and study into mining, energy and natural resources law issues and to enable an eligible postgraduate student to pursue research in this area at The University of Western Australia.

Value

The value of the scholarship is equivalent to the basic UWA stipend rate in 2009, ($25,427pa per annum).

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship an applicant must:
(a) be a graduate of a recognised university; and
(b) be eligible to enrol or be enrolled as a full-time student in a LLM by research or a PhD and intend to pursue research in mining, energy or resources law in the discipline of Law within the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Australia.

Both International and Domestic applicants are welcome to apply.

English Proficiency

All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English competency to gain admission to UWA. To be considered for this scholarship, you must have completed an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test and achieved the minimum results – an overall score of 7, with a minimum score of 6.0 for Speaking and Listening and a minimum score of 7.5 for Reading and Writing.

You must have you completed a test of English Proficiency within the past two years for your results to be acceptable. Originals or certified copies of evidence of English Qualifications must be attached to the Application.
