Bonus Payment for Postgraduate Scholarship Holders
As part of the Federal Government’s Household Stimulus Package, Centrelink is paying a one-off $950 Training and Learning Bonus payment to postgraduate scholarship holders. To be eligible a student must be: - undertaking full-time study in a Higher Degree by Research degree in semester one 2009, and
- living in Australia at the date of claim, and
- a Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia, and
- not already hold a research doctorate,
- be receiving for semester 1 2009;
- an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA), or
- an Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) (APA(I)) or National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) PhD Scholarship, or
- any other scholarship:
- the value of which is at least $20,427 in the calendar year, and
- that is payable as a stipend.
Between 1st May and 8th May, the Graduate Research & Scholarships Office has sent correspondence to most eligible students (who are not currently on suspension) detailing their enrolment status, scholarship details and residency. Students applying for this one-off payment can use this letter of enrolment and scholarship details in support of their application. Centrelink will assess claims and make payments to eligible postgraduate scholarship students from the 18th of May 2009. If you are eligible the bonus payment will be paid directly into your nominated bank account.
