Funding is available for a PhD scholarship in the area of computer vision in the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, The University of Western Australia. The successful applicant will be undertaking research under the supervision of Dr. Ajmal Mian on an Australian Research Council funded project titled "Integration of Spatiotemporal Video Data for Realtime Smart Proactive Surveillance". The project will focus on the development and testing of novel computer vision algorithms for the automatic tracking, modeling and recognition of human activities. EligibilityApplicants should have a strong research background and have experience in computer vision and image processing. Applicants are also expected to have knowledge of MATLAB and C++ programming languages. Experience in working with the Open Source Computer Vision (Open CV) Library will be given preference. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has the enthusiasm to become an independent researcher and the will to work in a team. Value of scholarshipThe scholarship provides a tax-free living allowance stipend paid at the Australian Postgraduate Award (Industry) rate of $26,140pa for up to 3 years. Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents (including New Zealand Citizens) enrolled in the PhD degree are not required to pay tuition fees, as their enrolments are funded under the Australian Government's Research Training Scheme.
