There is a range of bursaries, scholarships and studentships that current UWA students may be eligible to apply for to help meet the costs of studying abroad. These are awarded on the basis of merit and you need to be studying through a UWA Student Exchange program or an in-country language program organised by your faculty which you are receiving credit for.
UWA Study Abroad BursariesThese provide assistance to undergraduate students at second year level or higher and postgraduate students to undertake study overseas for credit towards their UWA degree. The bursaries provide stipends of $3000, $2500 and $2000 depending on the regional location of study. CS and SWANS Study Abroad BursariesThese are a special category of the UWA Study Abroad Bursary program for UWA undergraduate students at second year level or higher who have been awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship or a UWA Swans Scholarship and who will be participating in an overseas study program for credit towards their UWA degree. Bursaries provide stipends of $2206 (in 2009) tax free for students undertaking one or two semesters of study overseas. Frank Gamblen ScholarshipsThese provide assistance to undergraduate students at second year level or higher to undertake study overseas for credit towards their UWA degree. The value of the scholarship is $4,000. Robert and Maude Gledden Undergraduate StudentshipsThese provide assistance to undergraduate students at second year level or higher studying an applied science (particularly courses relating to surveying, engineering or mining and cognate subjects) to undertake study overseas for credit towards their UWA degree. The value of the scholarship is $3,000. The University of Western Australia French Embassy ScholarshipThis scholarship provides assistance to UWA students enrolled in an honours, graduate diploma or master's course to undertake study overseas at a French university or grande ecole for one or two semesters of study under formal student exchange arrangements. To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be an Australian citizen. The scholarships provide a stipend of $4000. In addition, the French Embassy provides full access to health cover in France for each scholarship recipient. Student Mobility SubsidiesThe Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) provides funding to support the participation of UWA undergraduate students in student exchange programs.
