Whitfeld Fellowships
The purpose of the Whitfeld Fellowships is to provide support to students to prepare publications arising from their theses and to prepare a grant application. The fellowships may be awarded to PhD students who have submitted their thesis for examination within six months before the application deadline, or intend to submit within six months after the application deadline. PLEASE NOTE: Whitfeld Fellowships will not be available for award in 2009. |
For applicants who have not already submitted their thesis for examination, it is a requirement that the Graduate Research Co-ordinators of their schools have submitted a Nomination of Examiners’ Form and signed-off on the existence of a full draft of the thesis, on the advice of the Co-ordinating Supervisors.
This is a competitive scheme, and applications are assessed on the basis of the applicant's track record, proposed publications, potential grant proposal and strength of recommendations from the Head of School.
The Whitfeld Fellowships will be paid at the rate of a half-time (0.5) Research Associate Level A (Step 1) appointment, providing an income of approximately $10,000 (taxable) for a maximum of six months following submission of the thesis for examination.
